Bibs and Bobs

I got lots of little things done today.

Firstly, squishy mail … the very best kind of mail.

I indulged before the precut prices rise (BOO!) and got a Joy Layer Cake and an Aneela Hoy, ‘Sew Stitchy’ Jelly Roll.

A Sewline Air Erasable Pen, which I have been hanging to try, and some Auriful thread … LOVE!

I also got to and printed some quilt labels.

A basic design I put together on Microsoft Office Publisher.

I have left plenty of room for writing in a permanent marker all the individual details on each label.

Very Pleased!

Doodling

Pencils and my new sketch book.

I am playing with some McTavishing filler today.

Might even be brave enough to try it for real!

Sneak Peek

A sneak peek today, at my Dolls Quilt.

I had planned to have it finished by now.  Today will be the day, binding and hanging sleeve going on.

Very pleased with how it is developing.

Portfolio

Despite my best intentions, I have failed to keep up with Blogtoberfest!

I thought I would share my final portfolio from my Photography elective.

The Heide Museum of Modern Art
Is just down the road from me, and was the perfect subject to explore.

With a solid history, weaving the past and present into a marvelous feast of the senses, I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent exploring this beautiful space in pictures.

Significant in its contribution to the history of Australian Art and Culture, the legacy of ‘Heide’, the home of John and Sunday Reed lives on.

The extensive property resides as an oasis within suburbia. The old painting shack; the original weather board house, where Sidney Nolan famously painted his Ned Kelly series on the dining room table; gardens; the home commissioned during the 1960’s which the Reed’s occupied till the 1980’s; and the subsequent renovation and extension have seen Heide grow and expand on Sunday’s vision. While not producing artwork herself, the gardens display her vision for Heide and it is this I have sought to explore.
These images convey the living, ever changing landscape which is Heide. From the spring blooms, to new leaf growth; fruit trees, herbs and secret garden escapes; structured garden beds and sculpture; there is always something new to see, feel, smell and touch. Moving through Heide is not only visual, but sensual, and I have portrayed textures such as the grasses shimmering in the wind to highlight this.
This project has allowed me to explore and capture, through my eyes the form, colour, contrasts, textures, and moods of ‘Heide’. Blessed with a day of bright, full sun, the colours are rich and bold, creating warmth. Aware of over exposure in these conditions I am pleased with the results.

This project has renewed my love for ‘Heide’ and I will be visiting a lot more in the future, to share it with my children. I imagine, exactly as Sunday dreamt.
